For most commercial buildings Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning is the single largest user of energy, typically consuming 50% to 60% of site energy use.
If you’ve heard of the 80/20 principle, you’ll understand that since HVAC is such a high energy user, its worthwhile taking a good look at the opportunities that might exist to reduce energy use.
However, whilst there are often good opportunities to reduce HVAC energy use, some of them with a fantastic ROI, the complexity of many HVAC systems means that these opportunities may be overlooked.
What you’ll learn
The key focus of this training is teaching you how to apply a systematic process to identify how HVAC energy use can be reduced, a process that can be applied to any type of HVAC system, whether small or large. This process will help you work through the complexity of larger HVAC systems.
Why attend this course
Providing HVAC services to a building is expensive. Not only are their energy costs, there are ongoing maintenance costs and possibly compliance costs. Additionally, the upgrading of a HVAC system is expensive and disruptive.
The actions you’ll learn about in this course to reduce HVAC energy use will not only reduce utility costs, it can improve reliability (reducing maintenance costs), and improve the quality of air conditioning provided.
You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss with me and other students your HVAC issues and tap into a range of ideas.
Who should attend
This course is targeted at facility managers. Sustainability officers who have had some HVAC exposure will also benefit
Course pre-requisites
Attending “Using Interval data to find easy energy savings” prior to this course is recommended.
