Skills for Australian’s new to Energy Efficiency

8020Green is pleased to announce its appointment by the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) to develop 21 introductory training modules on topics related to energy management and energy efficiency.

As decarbonisation becomes critical in Australia, the EEC and Clean Energy Council forecast that there is a need for 2 million new workers to meet emissions reduction targets by 2050. Jointly with the Clean Energy Council, the EEC has just launched the website Careers for Net Zero with the mission of growing the clean economy workforce.

And with energy efficiency as the first fuel in the decarbonisation engine, to avoid it being the forgotten fuel, there is an urgent need for new entrants to the sector – whether coming from a trades or professional background, whether at the start or middle of their careers – to understand the fundamentals of energy management and energy efficiency. Comprised of 15 modules focussed on business energy management, and 6 modules on residential energy management, the training will be available from July 2024 and will be delivered by the EEC both live in the classroom and online on-demand.

Karla Paeglis, Head of Workforce Development at the EEC, said “For many years 8020Green has played a key role in developing and delivering training programs for the EEC. It’s great to be continuing this relationship and have Bruce Rowse and his team working with us on this important project.”

The Energy Efficiency Council is Australia’s peak body for Australia’s energy management sector.

8020Green Pty Ltd provides training and consulting services, and on-demand training through the Sustainability Education Academy.
